Size it off the rating plate, not off how thick the cord looks. Watts ÷ 220 gives the amps: a 900 W appliance is 4.1 A and sits inside the 6 A this cable carries; a 1,500 W one is 6.8 A and does not — that job wants 1.5mm 3 core flexible cable at 17.5 A. Length is the second check and it rarely bites on a tail: 4 A over a 6 m lead drops 4 × 6 × 62 ÷ 1000 = 1.5 V, 0.7% of 220 V. Stretch that to a 20 m lead at the same 4 A and the drop is 5.0 V, 2.3% — still legal, but you are spending half the 5% budget on cord.
The earth core only protects anything if it is connected at both ends and the socket itself is earthed. 6 A is stated for method C at 30°C; coiled on a drum, bunched, or run in summer heat it carries less. Anything above 6 A on the rating plate — geysers, room heaters, most irons — needs a bigger size, not this one; the geyser cable guide works through that case. One core. Both carry the same 6 A on the same 0.75 mm² class 5 conductor; the 3 core adds an earth. Use 0.75mm 2 core flexible cable only for double-insulated equipment with a two-pin plug, and this 3 core build for anything with a metal body or a three-pin earthed plug.
Can I use 0.75mm 3 core cable for a geyser?
