2.5mm² class 5 flexible copper carries 27 A with two conductors loaded, clipped direct at 30°C, and 24 A with three. It is the socket-circuit and appliance size, the one the bazaar prices under the code 7/.029. It holds one tenth the copper of 25 mm², which is a main-incomer size — if that is what you came for, go to 25mm 4 core cable price. The rate here is quoted per meter at the day's copper price.
One decimal point separates a socket circuit from a house main, and quotes in this market drop it all the time. 2.5 mm² and 25 mm² are ten times apart in copper and four times apart in current. Read the row that matches the job, not the number that looks familiar.

Voltage drop is the limit on this size, not heat. A 20 A socket circuit taken 20 m on 2.5mm² drops 20 × 20 × 18 ÷ 1000 = 7.2 V, inside the 11 V that BS 7671's 5% allowance gives on a 220 V supply. Stretch it to 35 m and the drop is 12.6 V, over the line, and the run moves up to 4mm flexible cable at 11 mV/A/m.
