The code is imperial: 7 strands of 0.044 inch, and 0.044 × 25.4 = 1.118 mm across each strand — 0.98 mm² a strand, 6.9 mm² for all seven, sold as 6 mm² by the whole market including us. 46 A with two conductors loaded, 3.08 Ω/km. Check the coil before you pay for it
Every coil leaves our factory with a QR code printed on the packaging. Scan it and the factory record for that batch opens: brand, cable size, batch number, year of manufacture and conductor. Compare the batch number on screen with the one printed on your coil — if the two do not match, it did not come from us.

Single core is how most Pakistani houses are actually wired. The conduit goes in with the plaster and the wires are pulled through afterwards, one for line, one for neutral, one for earth. On that job this is the heavy-circuit size: the AC points, the geyser, the cooker, and on a smaller connection the run from the meter to the distribution board — while 7/.029 and 7/.036 take the sockets and the lights. 46 A with two conductors loaded, clipped direct at 30°C, is about 10 kVA at 220 V. Note the word clipped: four or five circuits sharing one conduit heat each other, and the grouping factor comes off that 46 A before you size anything.

Worked example, from the table above. A 30 A circuit — a board feeding an annexe, say — over a 20 m run drops 30 × 20 × 7.3 ÷ 1000 = 4.4 V, against the 11 V that BS 7671's 5% allows on a 220 V power circuit. That is 40% of the budget spent on one run. At the wire's full 46 A the 11 V arrives at 11000 ÷ (46 × 7.3) = 33 m, so past that distance the length picks the size and the next step is 10 mm², the code 7/.052. The rest of the ladder is in general wiring sizes.
