Submersible pump cable price in Pakistan — 1 HP and 2 HP motor runs

PILONE CABLES TECHNICAL TEAM

Pump and motor cable is sold by the metre at the day's copper rate. Send the horsepower, the total run in metres and your city, and today's per-metre figure comes back the same day.

Copper moves daily, so a printed number would be stale inside a week — the arithmetic behind it does not, and the copper table below shows exactly what you are paying for. One boundary before you total anything: Pilone Cables draws the dry run above ground, and the drop cable that hangs in the water beside a borehole motor is a different product from a different maker. If the size is not settled yet, read it off the 1 HP water pump wire size in mm chart first, then count your metres.

What we make, and what belongs to a specialist

Pilone draws PVC-insulated copper cable in Lahore — class 5 flexible and class 2 standard, 450/750 V for fixed wiring and 300/500 V for cords. On a pump job that is every dry metre: board to starter, starter to wellhead, and the motor tails on surface and booster pumps that never sit in water. Farm tubewell runs are set out on the agriculture cable page.

What hangs in the water is not that cable. A borehole drop needs insulation rated for permanent submersion, we do not make it, and we will not sell ordinary PVC in its place. Buy the drop rated for submersion, then measure the dry run and send us those metres.

What decides the 1 HP motor cable price

Copper is the price. Strip a cable and the conductor is what you paid for; the PVC around it costs far less per kilogram. One 4mm² conductor weighs 35.6 kg per kilometre and a 3-core carries three of them — which is why a quote jumps the moment the size or the core count changes, and barely moves when the nameplate reads 1 HP instead of 2.

Conductor copper in 100 metres of cable: IEC 60228 nominal area × 8.89 kg/km/mm² × 0.1 per conductor. Insulation and sheath add weight on top. Cost comparison only — take your size from the sizing chart.
SizePer conductor3 core4 core
2.5 mm²2.2 kg6.7 kg8.9 kg
4 mm²3.6 kg10.7 kg14.2 kg
6 mm²5.3 kg16.0 kg21.3 kg
10 mm²8.9 kg26.7 kg35.6 kg

Read that as a bill, not as a size chart. Stepping a 100 m 3-core run from 2.5mm² to 4mm² adds 10.7 − 6.7 = 4.0 kg of copper — the honest cost of the extra size, and money well spent on a long run, because voltage drop is what cooks motors. Take the size itself from the submersible pump cable size chart; the same sum separates the 2 HP motor cable price from the 1 HP one.

Worked example: totalling the metres on a tubewell

A 2 HP tubewell in a village: 150 ft of borehole, 30 ft from the wellhead to the starter panel, 60 ft from the starter back to the house board.

The 150 ft down the bore is drop cable and not ours. The dry run is 30 + 60 = 90 ft, and 90 ÷ 3.28 = 27.4 m; add a metre at each of the four terminations and you order 32 m. At 4mm² 3-core that is 32 × 0.107 = 3.4 kg of copper, against 32 × 0.067 = 2.1 kg at 2.5mm². The step up costs 1.3 kg across the whole job — on a short dry run, take the bigger size and stop thinking about it.

Move the starter to the far end of a field and the sum changes character. A 150 m dry run holds 16.1 kg of copper at 4mm² and 24.0 kg at 6mm² — 7.9 kg apart. On a farm run the cable is often the largest single line on the job. That is why we quote against measured metres, never against the horsepower alone.

What to send on WhatsApp for a quote

Four things, one message. With all four you get a per-metre rate and a coil figure back.

1. The pump

Horsepower off the nameplate, and whether the supply is single-phase 220 V or three-phase 400 V. The same 2 HP on the two supplies does not take the same cable.

2. The metres

Total the dry legs only: board to starter, and starter to wellhead. The drop into the bore is a different maker's cable — leave it out of the metres. Feet divided by 3.28 gives metres; add one at each termination.

3. The size, if it is fixed

The trade sells 4mm² as 7/.036 — an imperial code that computes to 4.6 mm², not a different wire — so send whichever your electrician wrote down. Not fixed yet? Send the run length and let the cable size calculator settle it.

4. The city

Punjab is 1–2 working days, the rest of Pakistan 2–4; a single coil goes by courier, bulk by transport. Ask for the coil length along with the rate.

Cable size on a pump circuit is set by voltage drop over the run, not by horsepower alone. Check yours on the voltage drop calculator and have a licensed electrician confirm it for your installation method and ambient temperature. Never joint cable inside the well: run the drop as one continuous length, and fit dry-run protection.

The cable for the dry run

Core count follows the supply, not the pump. A single-phase 1 HP or 2 HP motor takes 3 core — live, neutral and earth all one size. A three-phase tubewell takes 4.

Prices track the daily copper rate. Send the size, the total dry metres and your city on WhatsApp for the exact figure.

For the single-phase 3 core: 4mm 3 core flexible cable, or 2.5mm 3 core flexible cable on a short run. For a fixed run in conduit, 4mm 3 core standard cable — 7/0.85 instead of 56/0.30 for the same area. Every size is listed on the cable price per meter page.

Frequently asked

What is the 1 HP motor cable price per metre in Pakistan?
We quote it per metre on WhatsApp the same day, because the copper rate moves daily and a figure printed here would be wrong within the week. Send the horsepower, the total metres and your city, and the current number comes back ex-factory Lahore, with no dealer margin on top.
What is the 2 HP motor cable price for a tubewell run?
Same basis: the day's copper rate, by the metre. A 2 HP motor usually wants a size up from a 1 HP one over the same distance, and size is the biggest lever on the bill — the copper table above shows by how much. Fix the size against your run length first, then count the metres.
Do you sell the cable that goes down the borehole?
No. The drop cable hanging in the water beside the motor needs insulation rated for permanent submersion, and Pilone does not make that product — so we will not sell ordinary PVC flexible in its place. We supply every dry metre instead: board to starter, starter to wellhead, and the tails on surface pumps.
Which is the best wire for submersible pump runs?
The right size for your run, in the right construction. Size is set by voltage drop over the total length, not by horsepower — take it from the size chart. For the dry run, class 5 stranded copper flexes into a starter panel; class 2 standard suits a fixed run in conduit. Below the water line the drop must be rated for permanent submersion, which is a different product.

Pump and motor cable, at the day's factory rate

We draw the copper in Lahore and sell it at the day's rate — no dealer margin, and the line that made the coil answers the message. Send the horsepower, the total metres and your city: Punjab in 1–2 days, rest of Pakistan in 2–4.
