What size wire for a blender or juicer point in Pakistan?

PILONE CABLES TECHNICAL TEAM

2.5 mm² copper — the wire the trade sells as 7/.029 — on a 16 A MCB. That is the kitchen socket circuit, not a cable for the blender.

A blender or juicer is typically 300–800 W, which is 1.4–3.6 A on Pakistan's 220 V supply. Nobody runs a dedicated point for one. Size the worktop circuit for everything that plugs into it, and treat the blender's own lead as a separate item.

The blender is not what sets the size

For a blender or juicer in a Pakistani kitchen the wire in the wall is 2.5 mm² copper on a 16 A MCB, because the size is set by the socket circuit rather than by the machine: at 300–800 W the blender draws 1.4–3.6 A of the 27 A it carries clipped direct at 30 °C. Read the wattage off your own rating plate. The blender's own lead is a separate item again, and no change of wall wiring fixes a cracked one.

Kitchen worktop socket circuit that a blender or juicer plugs into, 220 V single phase. Wattage is a typical band — read your own rating plate. Capacity per BS 7671 reference method C (clipped direct), 30 °C ambient; conductor and stranding data per IEC 60228. Verify sizing with a licensed electrician.

What actually loads the worktop circuit

Take the worst honest minute in a Pakistani kitchen: the 800 W blender running while a 1500 W kettle boils and a 1000 W toaster is down. 800 ÷ 220 = 3.6 A, 1500 ÷ 220 = 6.8 A, 1000 ÷ 220 = 4.5 A — 14.9 A on one circuit, and the blender is a quarter of it.

2.5 mm² clears the 16 A breaker with 11 A in hand. 1.5 mm², at 19.5 A, clears it by 3.5 A — a margin that conduit, bundling and a June kitchen eat. Length is not the constraint here: at 14.9 A over 15 m it drops 18 × 14.9 × 15 ÷ 1000 = 4.02 V, inside the 5.5 V a final power circuit gets when the installation is held to 5% of 220 V — 11 V — and the submain has spent the other half. Check your own run in the voltage drop calculator.

Kitchen sockets carry several appliances at once, so size the circuit for the total on it. Derate for conduit, grouping and ambient above 30 °C using the correction factors in BS 7671, and have a licensed electrician confirm the breaker and cable for your kitchen.

The cable for this job

The worktop circuit in the wall is 2.5mm 3 core flexible cable, or 2.5mm single core copper (7/.029) where the electrician pulls singles through conduit. The 1.5mm flexible below is the cord size, not the point size.

Frequently asked

Blender ke liye kitne mm ka wire chahiye?
Blender ka apna alag wire nahi hota. Woh kitchen ke socket circuit par chalta hai, aur woh circuit 2.5 mm² copper — trade code 7/.029 — 16 A MCB par hota hai. Blender khud sirf 1.4–3.6 A leta hai. Size us baat se tay hota hai ke socket par aur kya kya lagta hai.
Does a blender need its own circuit or its own MCB?
No. At 300–800 W it is one of the lightest things in the kitchen, and it runs for a minute at a time. It belongs on the shared worktop socket circuit. The appliances worth taking off that circuit are the ones that heat for long stretches — the dishwasher and the microwave.
What size is the blender's own cable, the one with the plug?
It is a light 3-core flexible cord fitted by the maker — live, neutral and earth in class 5 stranded copper, so it bends without breaking. We make that class of cable but not moulded appliance leads. If the lead is cracked or hot at the plug, replace the lead; the cable in the wall is not the fault.
Can I run a blender from an extension board?
A blender alone, yes — 3.6 A at the top of its band is well inside a normal board. The board becomes the problem when a heater, an iron or a kettle joins it, because those are 6–10 A each and the board's own flex is thin. Add the wattages before you add the plug, and never coil a loaded extension lead.
