A hot-and-cold dispenser draws typically 500–750 W, or 2.3–3.4 A at 220 V, against a cable rated 27 A clipped direct at 30°C. That is about a fifth of the 16 A way. What the dispenser does need is its own properly earthed three-pin socket, not an adaptor, because unlike most of the house it holds water and it is left running every hour of the year.

What a water dispenser actually draws

A water dispenser in Pakistan runs from an ordinary earthed socket point: 2.5 mm² copper on a 16 A MCB, the same circuit the rest of the room's sockets sit on. A hot-and-cold unit draws typically 500–750 W, which is 2.3–3.4 A at 220 V, so it uses about a fifth of that way. What it needs instead is a dedicated three-pin socket with a working earth, because it holds water and it is never switched off. Read the plate on the back of your own unit — the heater is the part that varies between models.

Length does not change the answer either. Over a 10 m run at 3.4 A, 2.5 mm² loses 18 × 3.4 × 10 ÷ 1000 = 0.61 V — about a quarter of one percent of 220 V. Even 1.5 mm² over the same run loses only 29 × 3.4 × 10 ÷ 1000 = 0.99 V. Neither figure comes near mattering.

One thing to square if you are reading the fridge guide alongside this one. A refrigerator point is often run in 1.5 mm² on a 10 A MCB because it is a dedicated point serving one small motor and nothing else. A dispenser normally sits on the room's general socket way, which is wired in 2.5 mm² on 16 A because half a dozen other things will be plugged into it over the years. Two different answers for two appliances standing side by side, and the reason is the circuit, not the box.

The point matters more than the copper

Sizing a water dispenser is a short conversation. Siting it is the part worth getting right, and it comes down to four things.

Current capacity depends on how the cable is installed. Derate for conduit, grouping and ambient temperature above 30°C, and take the correction factors for your own method from BS 7671. Have a licensed electrician confirm the circuit, the earth and the RCD for your home — or start with the cable size calculator.

Can a water dispenser and a refrigerator share one socket?
Electrically the two together are still a light load on a 16 A way. The reason to give each its own point is mechanical: both run unattended around the clock, and a splitter or adaptor pushed in behind furniture is the connection that works loose and warms up. Is 1.5mm enough for a water dispenser?
On capacity, comfortably — 1.5 mm² carries 19.5 A clipped direct at 30°C against the 3.4 A drawn. Socket circuits are still wired in 2.5 mm², because the circuit is shared and the next thing plugged into that point may not be a dispenser. Size the circuit, not the appliance.
